Scotswood Road in Newcastle was closed earlier for several hours, with emergency services attending the scene with reports of concern.
The North East Ambulance Service added: “We were called to an incident on Scotswood Road in Newcastle this morning (21 November) at 9:08am. We dispatched one ambulance crew and one HART crew (Hazardous Area Response Team). One patient was taken to RVI hospital.”
Northumbria Police said: “At around 9.10am today (Thursday), we responded to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man on Scotswood Road in the Newcastle area. The situation is no longer ongoing, and the man is now receiving the appropriate care.”
Northumbria Police say they were called after 9am on Thursday to reports of concerns for a man’s welfare on Scotswood Road. A cordon was set up for four hours while the situation was handled. One man was then taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle.
Hours later, the road then reopened following the removal of a vehicle with multiple shattered windows.
