Storm Darragh is set to bring strong winds and heavy rain across the North East region,

The Met Office released a yellow weather warning for wind on Friday morning, affecting the entire region. This warning is in effect from 3 PM on Friday until 6 AM on Sunday, with gusts anticipated to reach up to 70 mph. Additionally, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued, spanning from 6 AM on Saturday to midnight.

Met Office had advised to plan an emergency flood kit just in case and check road conditions and timetables when travelling. “Check if your property could be at risk of flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit. Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.”

They also said:  “Storm Darragh will bring further outbreaks of rain during Saturday morning which are likely to become heavier and more persistent through the day. 15-20mm is likely to fall quite widely, with 30-50mm falling over high ground of the Cheviots, Pennines and North York Moors.”
