Northumbria Police have announced that they are addressing a collision on a roadway in Gateshead. Paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service and the Great North Air Ambulance have also arrived at the scene.

AA Traffic are currently sharing that busy traffic is building up in the area.

Highways North East said on X “The #A1 in #TyneandWear has re-opened northbound.

The southbound carriageway remains closed between J71 #Whickham and J70 #Dunston following a Police Led Incident.”
