LATEST: Home Bargains lorry overturns injuring one person
A person suffered injuries when a lorry flipped over in South Tyneside on Sunday evening.
Emergency responders were dispatched to Newcastle Road in South Shields on Sunday evening following the overturning of a Home Bargains lorry. One individual was reported to have sustained minor injuries, prompting the closure of the road.
A portion of the road remained closed for several hours until the lorry was cleared, finally being removed in the early hours of Monday morning.
What did emergency services say?
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said:
“At 6.30pm yesterday (Sunday) we received a report of an overturned vehicle on Newcastle Road in South Shields.
Emergency services attended and one person was found to have sustained minor injuries.
A section of the road was closed to allow for recovery of the vehicle involved and fully re-opened a number of hours later.”
