New owners have transformed The Barn Inn in Seaham for a magical winter wonderland experience – that you won’t need to stand and wait in the cold to meet Santa.
A Christmas cabin has been renovated from the bar, the Garden Room turned into a ‘Willy Wonker type empire’ – featuring huge sweets, a Hobbit hut to meet Santa and a stunning display of lights throughout.

Nicole from the Barn Inn said: “Christmas is everything to us. Creating a Winter Wonderland has always been part of our plan here.
“And we’re so happy with how it’s come together, it’s magical. We want to be the most Christmassy place in Seaham, a Winter Wonderland for the whole family.
“As well as creating something fantastic for the people of Seaham, we hope it will attract people from outside the area to create memories.”
“We don’t want people queueing in the cold to meet Santa, which is why we are doing it table by table. The kids also get proper gifts, instead of just selection boxes, like build a dinosaur and mugs to paint.”
There is a special experience for families to enjoy, from meeting Santa, stories read by Mrs Claus and activities handed out for the whole family.
A local Seaham-based company TLC were invited along to spruce the barn up.

Visitors can enjoy delicious afternoon teas, alongside mouth watering hot chocolates and mulled wine, festive beers and ciders for the adults, alongside an array of treats including pancakes, giant cookies and chocolate cake explosions.

Winter Wonderland must be booked, with timings 4pm to 8pm on Thursdays and Fridays and 12pm to 8pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The experience is priced £12 for children and £6 for adults.
