A crash took place on the A1(M) Southbound from J62 A690 (Carrville) to J61 A688 Tursdale Road (Bowburn) earlier today.

AA Traffic News said: “One lane closed and queueing traffic due to crash on A1(M) Southbound from J62 A690 (Carrville) to J61 A688 Tursdale Road (Bowburn).

They revealed that there were ”severe delays of 36 minutes”:

“Severe delays of 36 minutes and delays increasing on A1(M) Southbound between J62 A690 (Carrville) and J61 A688 Tursdale Road (Bowburn). Average speed five mph”

The A1 (M) has since cleared on both sides.

Ambulances were called while the fire brigade were on hand to help with safety measures.

It is said that emergency services were called at 4.49pm alongside the Durham fire team.
