Significant gaps in service

Tyne and Wear Metro say there are currently ‘significant gaps in service’ and ‘multiple train faults’ this afternoon.

Writing on X, they said: ‘We currently have significant gaps in service on Yellow and Green lines in both directions due to a signalling issue and multiple train faults. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and thank you for your patience.’

Technical fault at Gateshead Stadium:

Tyne and Wear Metro said on X: ‘Due to a technical fault at Gateshead Stadium and 2 trains being withdrawn with faults, there are gaps of up to 40 minutes on the Green and Yellow Lines. We are working to resolve the issue and will resume the timetable as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience caused’.

Customers are advised to check the app for journey updates.

Claim a refund to your delayed journey

Tyne and Wear Metro have advised passengers caught up in distruptons today, to claim for a refund.

They said: ‘Apologies if you are caught up in todays disruptions. Please complete the form in the link below to claim a refund for a delayed journey of more than 15 minutes than advertised.’
